At Central Presbyterian Church our main purpose in Children's Ministry is to reach children and their families by teaching them of God's love so they will commit to God and follow God.  We believe that children need to be encouraged and nurtured in their growth toward becoming like Christ and in committing their lives to following Christ.  If you want to grow  your child toward God, let us partner with you on the  journey.

"Let the children come to me ... for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
                                                      Mark 10:14

We are always delighted to have our parents volunteer to help with the children's programs. From teaching a Sunday School class, working with the Wednesday evening Kidz Club or Preteen Xtreme, providing snacks at Vacation Bible School, to chaperoning a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch, we need and want your enthusiasm and skills. Please contact Patty Brooks

Third Grade Bible Presentation
Each fall we present youth study Bibles to our third grade children at a special worship service.  To make this gift more meaningful for the children, we ask 3rd graders to bring their Bible to Sunday School each week to use in the Bible study.

Preparing for Worship/Communion
Preparing for worship and communion class is offered each fall to children entering second grade.  Children in higher grades are welcome to participate.  This is a four week session that takes place during Kidz Praise at the 11:00 am worship service.  Children must attend all four classes to receive a Communion Certificate.

Children's Music
Music is offered during Sunday School and on Wednesday evenings to re-enforce the Bible story.  Children are given the opportunity to worship God through singing in our age appropriate choirs.  The children performs in worship services periodically throughout the year.  They perform two musicals during the year -  a Christmas musical in December and a Spring musical in May.  We will soon be casting for our Christmas Musical, "The Bethlehem Project".

Children’s Joy Chimes
The children's chimes choir, Joy Bells, is for second through fifth graders.  The children will learn music fundamentals such as rhythmic notation, note identification and musical terms;  how to focus and concentrate, and independence within teamwork and responsibility. If you would like for your child to be a part of the Joy Chimes please contact the Church office to sign your child up.

Vacation Bible School takes place the third week of June for ages four through fifth grade.  The week is fun-filled as well as a great time of Bible Stories and activities, crafts and refreshments. Pre-registration begins in May.

Children will learn how to live their faith in the real world.

Pre-teen
Xtreme  is our ministry for fourth and fifth graders. The preteen years are a transition from being a child to being a teenage. Our goal is to bridge the gap between the children and youth ministries by offering very distinctive programs to meet the needs of preteens. We want to give preteens the tools and knowledge to help them make wise choices based on God’s Word and not on peer pressure. As they begin to want independence and to form their own opinions and thoughts on life issues, we want to be a place where they feel safe, and where they feel like they belong. We use exciting worship, awesome teaching, energetic small group discussions, skits, games and hangout time to connect with our preteens. Helping them discover who Jesus is and what that means to them is what Xtreme is all about.
Sunday School is offered from 9:40-10:40 am each Sunday morning upstairs in room 207. They will be using Hands-On Curriculum from Group Publishing where they will have fun diving into Bible activities and applying it to their daily lives.
Wednesday evenings we will have fourth and fifth graders digging into the Bible for answers to issues they grapple with the most.  We’ll be using cool videos, games, and weekly challenges that will guarantee they’ll have fun as they explore what they believe…and why they believe it!  We also offer our preteens a safe and secure website my.grapple.com where they can prepare for upcoming lessons, play games and interact online with their classmates.
Special Events and mystery nights will be provided throughout the year. Preteens just like to “hang out” together, and we want to give them an opportunity to “hang out” in a positive environment with other kids who are seeking to grow in relationship with Jesus.
